A festival featuring Dancers & Musicians from around the world! Performances, Cultural Activities, Folk Dance Instruction. Dancers from 10 nations around the globe will perform at 34th edition of Folkmoot Festival when it convenes July 20-30 in our beloved Smoky Mountains.
- Mountain Street Dance
July 21 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Put on your cloggin’ & square dancin’ shoes and enjoy an old-fashioned mountain hoedown! Live mountain music, demonstrations, and instruction by local clogging teams. Refreshments are available for purchase. Limited bleacher seating available so feel free to bring a chair or blanket for the Courthouse lawn. No animals allowed at downtown events.

Join Folkmoot in a 34 year tradition and meet the world on Main Street.
All international groups plus local groups will be in attendance.
Folkmoot, a word meaning “meeting of the people,” provides communities all over Western North Carolina the opportunity to build a deeper sense of connection, mutual respect and shared purpose by experiencing other cultures.
Waynesville, NC, is located 26 miles west of Asheville, NC, in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. Downtown Waynesville offers plenty of restaurants, specialty shops and even a Mast General Store within easy walking distance. But, if you do decide to venture out, its central location makes an ideal basecamp for experiencing all Western North Carolina has to offer.
It’s just a short drive to other Haywood County towns including Maggie Valley, Lake Junaluska, Canton and Clyde. Visitors wanting a day trip adventure can take a drive on America’s original scenic highway, the Blue Ridge Parkway, or reach the Pisgah National Forest in approximately 30 minutes and Gatlinburg, TN, in 1.5 hours.
